If you’re new to DVC, you may be asking yourself why someone might want to own a Disney Vacation Club Contract. Here are five of our favorite benefits to owning a piece of the Disney magic.
Save in the Long Run
In the long run of owning a Disney Vacation Club contract, you will eventually save money on deluxe resort accommodations. When hotel prices go up, you are not affected. This benefit was especially noticeable when looking at cash room prices for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary dates in October. I was very happy to be a DVC owner when I saw rooms at the value resort, Pop Century for nearly $300 the night of October 1st. Instead, we used our membership to spend 21 points on Grand Floridian and can walk to Magic Kingdom. Another savings you’ll encounter is resort parking. DVC members don’t pay to park at their resort when using their membership. This equates to a decent savings if you are choosing to drive or rent a car as deluxe resort parking is $25 per night. For a week long stay, you’ll save $175. Over the life of your contract, that savings will add up.
Value of the Contract
Disney Vacation Club has historically only risen in value. If you were to ever find yourself in a position of needing to sell, you will still get value out of your contract. Also, if temporarily you can’t use your points or could use some extra cash, you can get value out of renting them. Some members even choose to rent points to help pay for their contracts and/or annual dues.
Flexibility of Use
Unlike most time shares, Disney Vacation Club offers a large amount of flexibility. You are not stuck with a pre-chosen week every year. You never have to vacation the same way every year. Change up the room type, time of year, and (for most contracts) change up the resort if availability allows. This year, we have used our points at Disney World and Aulani Resort in Hawaii. The flexibility gives you so many choices to do what fits best for you and your family.
Amazing Accommodations
Whether you’re staying in a deluxe studio over Disney’s BoardWalk, a huge Grand Villa at Old Key West, or a 2-bedroom Copper Creek Cabin, Disney Vacation Club members have access to some of the best accommodations Disney has to offer. Being a DVC member has given us the opportunity to experience resorts we would not have otherwise gotten to experience. DVC resorts are deluxe resorts with some of the best views and locations.
Sharing with Others
When you own DVC, it makes sharing the magic of Disney with others much easier. One of my favorite Disney trips was when Paul (my husband) and I took both our moms to Disney for a week. We booked a 2-bedroom at Animal Kingdom Villas- Jambo House and had an amazing time together. The best part was watching our moms experience staying at a deluxe Disney resort. A two bedroom villa is something we would never be able to book with cash as it would be too difficult to justify the nightly costs. But using our points was so easy and brought so much happiness to loved ones.
